Thai Massage

Thai Massage is an ancient and sacred form of healing work stemming from traditional Thailand medicine. The historical founder of Thailand medicine is Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, also referred to as Shivago Komparaj. Living in India approximately 2,500 years ago, he was a close associate of the historical Buddha. When the Buddhist monks moved from India into Thailand, so did the movement of medicine.

Given that Thai Massage originated in India, it naturally incorporates elements of yoga. It has been called “the lazy man’s yoga” because the yoga postures performed on the recipient are completely passive. It also incorporates elements of shiatsu and acupressure. Thai Massage is a dynamic style of bodywork beneficial for relieving stress and increasing flexibility. A Thai Massage lasts an hour and a half and the recipient is fully clothed for the session (breathable, unrestricting clothes are recommended). Traditionally, Thai Massage is performed on a floor mat, but it can also be received on a massage table.
